This site would not exist without the people who know the birds. Every photo and every bird call on it was made by someone else, 1,869 of them so far, from 602 photographers and sound recordists. Each one is named on this page, with a link to everything they gave us.

Why this page exists

We rely on guides, birders and photographers for what this site knows, and for the stories behind the birds. A guide who tells us a bird page is wrong makes it better for the next person who reads it.

So the credit stays with them.

Next come the guides who know these valleys, with profiles of their own, and members who share their photos and sightings. Once you are registered you will be able to like and share what other birders post, and flag anything you think is wrong so we can look at it.

Not an expert birder, and happy to say so. In Costa Rica since 1999 and building trips here since December 2004. I built this site, and I wanted the people who know the birds to have the credit.
