Corcovado Wilderness Lodge sits on a private reserve of 189 acres that borders Corcovado National Park. The lodge's own page says the reserve borders the park, so the forest does not stop at the fence.
The lodge runs early-morning walks for forest birds, and its own page on the area talks about the canopy, the shore and the sea birds, which is three habitats from a single address.
The walks start early because the birds do: the lodge schedules its forest-bird walks for the early morning.

Birding on the property
The lodge's page describes a 189-acre private reserve bordering Corcovado National Park, early-morning forest-bird walks, and birds of the canopy, the shore and the sea. It gives no species count and no trail lengths.

The birds to look for
From our Corcovado page, the birds of the park next door: the Scarlet Macaw, the Great Curassow on the forest floor and the Spectacled Owl at dusk. Our park notes name the Harpy Eagle too: treat it as a hope, not a plan.
In the forest, three regional endemics found only on this side of the country: Baird's Trogon, Black-cheeked Ant-Tanager and Turquoise Cotinga.

Staying at Corcovado Wilderness Lodge by SCP
The only way in is by boat, through Sierpe or Drake Bay. The property splits in two: the rainforest villas and suites sit on flat ground a short walk from the pools and the trails, and the treehouses climb to the cliff at the top of the property with the Pacific below. All villas are air-conditioned. Meals move between Los Vitrales, facing the jungle, Terra Kitchen, an open kitchen with an ocean view, and service at the pool, plus a beach pavilion in high season. Most vegetables and herbs are grown on the property. Days are guided walks into the forest, the beach, and the spa or yoga in the afternoon.
Rooms
- Corcovado Deluxe Villa: sleeps 2, king bed; rainforest; on level ground near the pools.
- Carate Deluxe Villa: sleeps 4, the family villa; rainforest; on level ground.

Meals. Los Vitrales (jungle-facing, fusion and grilled fish), Terra Kitchen (seafood and Costa Rican, ocean view), poolside service, and the Beach Pavilion in high season. Dinner reservations required. Meal inclusion not stated on the pages read.
Good to know
